Think big . . . Start small . . . Go slow!

This is the meeting place for your first (and most important) professional learning community. Use this blog to keep in touch with everyone from LPP 24, share best practices you're doing in your schools, and tell funny stories. The 14 of us make quite a network throughout Utah (and Tennessee) schools. It'd be a pity to waste our connections. Check in every few weeks and contribute often. The computer keeps track, so we'll have a competition to see who posts the most often. At least, we'll call it a competition until I'm no longer winning. After that, it's not a competition.

LPP Evolution

This video is a composite of every time I sat down to study during the 15-month LPP program. If you watch closely, I think you can actually see me getting smarter.

Baptism by Fire - Hallelujuh!!!!

Holy Cow! Even after a year of internship, the "real thing" is nothing like I thought it would be. Talk about a baptism by fire. If I thought I knew anything going in to this job, I know now I know nothing. It's a riot though and I love every minute. I hope you all are having as grand of time as I am. I miss our Denis class in LPP. I could use some advice from the top secret intelligence of 319.

PLC as a teacher

Hey everyone. I hope all is going well for each of you at your new jobs. I am in my second week as an English teacher at Provo High School. In that time things related to PLCs have become even more clear for me. I am completely convinced that flex/intervention on a school-wide level is not a good place to start. It is one of the last things that should be implemented. O.K. I vented.

Graduation

Well, my wife focused mostly on me during her filming, but I still thought everyone would like to see what LPP 24's graduation looked like from the Howe family perspective. It was good to see everyone.

Best Wishes

Today is the day you all will be walking and receiving your diploma. I am jealous, but I wish you all the best and you are in my thoughts today. Tennessee is great. There are so many good educators here. I certainly know that this is the place for me and my family. Have fun today.

Graduation

Hey there you all! I hope all is going well for everyone. I am wondering who is planning to attend the graduation ceremony on Friday?

So . . .

Who plans on being at graduation? Where are we going to meet up? Any suggestions?

How Did Lorie R. Break Her Arm??

Okay, Lorie. You cannot simply respond to a post that you broke your arm and give no details! When? Where? How? How bad is it? Did you need surgery? Which arm? So many questions!!!! Cough up some details please! :)

Hired and FIRED!!!

I have the rare distinction of having been hired and FIRED by a fellow LPP 24 group member! "Really????" you ask! Yes, it's true! Principal Lori Neilsen hired me to be a fifth grade teacher at Art City Elementary. It was approved by Nebo School District's Director of Elementary Education. I was hired! It was a done deal. The next day Principal Neilsen was informed by the same director that "it was not a good idea" because it might be perceived as "bringing a friend." Bam! Just like that I was "fired." :( I will always remember the ONE day Lori and I worked at the same school with fondness. :) I always thought principals were a lonely breed! No friends allowed! As for me, I will return to my previous school, Hobble Creek Elementary.

I'd like to use this forum to announce that I am now as cool as Principal Barth and Principal Woodhouse with my very own iPad.
